Limited editions are a design decision, not a production constraint. Scarcity creates considered ownership. When an edition is gone, it's gone. The next one will be different.

Bedside or bathroom counter. The objects that start and end the day. Phone, watch, keys. Terrible design at the mid-market. Being designed now.

First manufactured object
The transition from 3D printing to external manufacturing. One object, properly tooled, produced in a run of 200–500. This is when the business changes shape.
